Samples of ENGLISH and SPANISH talk descriptions: From Paul VI's Evangelii Nuntiandi to Francis' Evangelii Gaudium: The Call of Five Popes To An Effective and Love-Driven New Evangelization The world is rapidly changing yet “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13:8) Aware of this, all recent popes have called for a new evangelization capable of transforming lives and cultures. How do we fully embrace the call to deep conversion and an effective new evangelization amidst ever new challenges and opportunities? As Jesus taught: the “disciple of the kingdom of heaven…brings out of his treasure things new and old.” (Mt. 13:52) Looking at what the Spirit is saying to the Churches (cf. Rev. 3:22) today and over the last 40 years, we can learn from the past as we prepare well for the future. We will discuss areas of need and concern identified by Pope Francis and his predecessors, and ways of rekindling and developing a new ardor, new methods and new expressions of evangelistic love and mercy leading to a life-changing encounter with Christ in His Church. Encountering and Revealing The Face of Mercy: How to Get and Give Mercy Through Love Encounters With Christ and Neighbor Like his predecessors, Pope Francis is a man on a mission – a mission of mercy. He declared an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy (8 December 2015 – 20 November 2016) so that “the Church might make clear its mission of being a witness to mercy” by living the Lord’s words “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Lk 6:36) How do we encounter anew the merciful love of Jesus Christ? How do we carry out the saving mission of the Redeemer and invite others to gaze on the face of mercy? When and where can we reveal the mercy received and make God known and loved? Looking at “love stories” in Scripture and daily life, we will discuss numerous opportunities we have to extend “unsolicited gestures of genuine love” that tap into person’s innate need and desire for love and mercy – converting simple, unplanned human interactions into purposeful “evangelistic love encounters” with a lasting life-giving effect. Señor, Hazme Un Instrumento de Tu Misericordia: Respondiendo al Llamado a la Nueva Evangelización como Fruto del Encuentro Personal con Cristo Cristo nos llama a un encuentro de amor capaz de transformar nuestras vidas y el mundo. El Papa Francisco, como sus predecesores, nos invita a responder al llamado a un encuentro personal con el Dios de la misericordia y a una nueva evangelización llena de amor. ¿Cómo y cuándo sucede ese encuentro personal? ¿Qué cambia en nuestras vidas como resultado? ¿Qué papel juegan el amor y la misericordia en la nueva evangelización? ¿De qué manera debemos y podemos ser "Instrumentos de Misericordia" durante el Jubileo de la Misericordia y más allá? Enjoy these videos of two talks I was privileged to deliver in Auckland, New Zealand at the 2014 Eucharistic Congress Published by EC2014 Father Allan Jones SM of The Catholic Enquiry Centre in New Zealand recommended Martha Fernandez-Sardina to us as a possible speaker for our convention.
